Transform Your Smile with Dental Veneers from Nashville Smile Team

If you’re interested in obtaining a “Hollywood smile” in Nashville, dental veneers are one of the popular ways to achieve this. At Nashville Smile Team, we offer dental veneers as well as Lumineers (no prep veneers). Dr. Rushing and Dr. Coulter have great reputations for transforming smiles and would be happy to meet with you for a no obligation consultation to discuss this popular cosmetic dentistry procedure. Many patients ask us to review this option with them as an alternative when teeth whitening doesn’t do what they’d hoped or when they want a way to straighten the look of their smile without braces.

Lumineers vs. Veneers

Veneers and Lumineers have the same outcome but the difference is that Lumineers are considered ‘prepless’ veneers, meaning that they are not permanent and the tooth structure doesn’t need to be altered in order for the veneer to be bonded to the tooth. Dental veneers involve a small amount of the enamel on the tooth being removed before the veneer is bonded to the tooth. For this reason, this is considered a permanent procedure. But as with most dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement. They are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.

Reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
  • Crooked teeth.
  • Misshapen teeth.
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth.
  • Teeth that are too small or large.
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces.
  • Worn or chipped teeth.

About the Dental Veneers Procedure

Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process.  A traditional approach requires the removal of enamel to allow for the appropriate thickness of the veneer.  New techniques utilize stronger porcelain that results in a thinner veneer.  The use of thin veneers requires little or no anesthesia and minimal drilling.   The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and the dentist. Speak with Dr. Rushing to determine which procedure would be right for you.

On the second visit the teeth will be cleansed with special solutions to achieve a durable bond. Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond.

You will receive care instructions for veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers.
